– Amanda Holden shares her beautiful new duet ‘I Know Him So Well’ (from Chess) with musical star Sheridan Smith, featured on Amanda’s debut album, Songs From My Heart. This follows the huge news of Amanda’s first ever album and the release of emotional track ‘With You’ (from Ghost) earlier this month.
“I got a great friendship out of this song in Sheridan Smith”, says Amanda “I’d loved her for years and we’ve always hugged when we met but we didn’t know each other. I really wanted her to duet with me on ‘I Know Him So Well’ so I asked David Walliams for her number. She was heavily pregnant, but she couldn’t have been nicer or more enthusiastic when I called her, and the final result is better than I even imagined.
This is also the first single I ever bought for my mum who loved Barbara Dickson. We had all her albums and even though I have never to this day seen Chess, this is the song I’ve always loved.”
Originally performed by Olivier award winners Elaine Page and Barbara Dickenson in 1985, it remains the biggest-selling record ever by a female duo. This year, Amanda Holden and Sheridan Smith reveal their stunning version. The pair were brought together by mutual friend David Walliams. As shown in the official video, which was shot last year, Amanda and Sheridan shared a love of singing and the collaboration for Amanda’s album naturally fell into place.
