Hi Henny Holyfield! How are you?
I’m blessed and highly favored.
Where are you from?
Originally from San Jose, but have lived all over Northern California. Currently, I reside in Sacramento where I have been for almost 20 years.
What is your greatest inspiration for your music?
My greatest inspiration is my family. They keep me motivated to be the best version of myself every day.
How would you describe your music in 3 words?
3 words to describe my music… complex, versatile, lyrical.
What’s the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?
My father’s incarceration and my relationship with him has been difficult to go into full detail about. I’ve touched on it over the years, but never fully explained how much it affected me.
What are your challenges being an artist?
Balancing family/work with music. Knowing what outlets to invest in. Putting out consistent content. Not allowing everything else in life to affect my creativity.
Are you planning on releasing new music soon?
I am currently wrapping up a joint album with Dirk Dig (together we make Kali Boyz) called Far West Coast, set to release late September. I also have a project with Alize Ali entitled Ali & Holyfield set to release at the beginning of 2021, as well as another group album with Sol & Speak EZ (The BeatKnocks, title TBA) dropping shortly after that. You can also expect a solo EP from me mid-2021.
