[Our House] is a digital television network that provides a platform for creators during a time where self-expression is limited. Having launched in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic – the platform will celebrate 1,500 hours of streamed content and hundreds of artists paid, over two days. In partnership with matcha energy brand MatchaBar, we raised money to directly support those in need during these trying times. The platform exists as a crowd-sourced model, allowing creators from around the world to submit and get paid. Gig It Back features an eclectic lineup ranging from Sean Lennon, Frankie and The Witch Fingers, Rex & Blu Detiger, The BIg Quiet, The Black Lips, Sean Yeaton of Parquet Courts, Dani Miller of Surfbort and many more! Collaborating with labels from Greenway Records to Chimera Music, to New York’s Matte Projects and Alix Brown – [Our House] has always been about building a community around creative expression, providing a stage in a time when venues around the world shut down. Partnering with New York’s Williamsburg Pizza – local guests can order in pizza, festival merch + cocktails like a real festival! With over 30 artists, the festival will stream from 12PM-2AM Friday and Saturday.
All donations collected during the festival will go directly to the NYC Nightlife United, a new emergency fund that aims to provide immediate relief to shuttered the city’s cultural centers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. NYC Nightlife United (NNU) was birthed out of the need to support and center small, independently-owned businesses that enrich the culture of nightlife in NYC. NYC Nightlife United is raising funds not only for venues but also for the artists, producers, and employees that work at them with a primary focus on supporting BIPOC-owned and led businesses who create safe spaces for BIPOC and the LGBTQIA communities. “No one can deny that nightlife is culture”. The fund believes in an equitable rich nightlife culture in NYC that not only survives closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but is able to reopen as a stronger, healthier, and more creative community. We agree – and believe we must mobilize to save the New York City nightlife scene.
As the world re-opens, [Our House] has announced that Gig It Back will mark its final stream in its current iteration, making way for what the community will look like in the real world in 2021…
