Punt Guns’ performance at the intimate London Subterania venue is an energetic and captivating show, showcasing the band’s showmanship and true talent, transporting the watcher to the event. Core members, Karisma and Samura1, are joined on stage by Gaet Allard on drums and Jiri Novotny on guitar and keyboards, embellishing the band’s sound and creating a powerful tone on stage. With a backdrop of mesmerising lights and visuals, the show also cleverly incorporates remixes by Hong Kong based Janette Slack (1.C.A.R.U.S.) and Future Funk Squad’s Glen Nichols (B1g Bang) that add great depth and versatility to the performance.
Speaking of how the band formed, Karisma explained: ”This story actually started to unfold in Montreal, Canada. We were there for a week, meeting several producers (Howard Bilerman, Arcade Fire) and during one meeting at Breakglass Studios with Jacek Lasek, his friend Jonathan just ask me out of blue why I am not the singer as we are with Samura1 writing all the songs. That hit me hard! Before that meeting, the idea of me singing didn’t even cross my mind but since that time in Montreal, I couldn’t take it away. It all made sense but I still didn’t feel it.”Since forming in 2017, the pair have cultivated their sound fusing a mix of electronic rock, electronica and pop. Having collaborated with notable names including Glen Nicholls, who has worked with Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy and Sia, Punt Guns are full speed ahead in their musical journey, and their forthcoming records are ones to watch out for.
