Following on from the release of her highly praised new EP ‘Whale’ released near the end of August, Swedish artist Rebecka Reinhard now returns to share the official video for one of the collection’s standout singles ‘A Pick’.
As a song that is about feeling alienated from the world, she thought it would be appropriate to set these new visuals in nature and as far away from human interference as possible. Heading out to the wilderness and taking in all the glorious scenery that her home country has to offer, the video for ‘A Pick’ makes for a wonderfully bright and engaging watch.
Speaking about the new video, she added, “This song is about feeling alienated from the world around you while trying to pretend as if everything is fine, grappling with reality and trying to make sense from the chaos. At the same time there is a very laid back vibe, bordering to indifference. But you know instinctively that something’s not right. So we wanted to create an environment that is distorted and slightly eerie. I seem to have just landed there without a map or manual but doing my best to just go on as usual. It’s creepy but in a funny rather than a hostile way.”
Recorded between London and the Swedish countryside, the ‘Whale’ EP comes after a period of musical and personal discovery. Having left her native Stockholm, Rebecka found herself living in Paris, before relocating to London in 2014. It was there that her musical trajectory solidified, and in the summer of 2018, she started recording with producer Anders Källmark.
