Pittsburgh-raised rapper, singer, and songwriter TommyHill has become an Instagram sensation after releasing the viral preview of his new song “Abandoned”.
The track is already garnering widespread attention ahead of the September 1st release date, particularly for the banger beat and the profound lyrics featured in the sneak peek.
TommyHill hit radio waves back in May when he dropped his debut single “First Ten”. Listeners immediately fell in love with his raw and unfiltered lyrics, that held a mirror up to their own feelings. The song has since become a fan favorite, standing at over 300,000 streams on Spotify to date. TommyHill is now back with another sure hit titled Abandoned, not departing from his primary ethos as an artist.
TommyHill is incredibly excited about his new project and states that he wanted to share a deeper message about survival with this track:
“ I was inspired to make the Abandoned video to show anybody going through a deep pain that they are not alone. We all feel dead inside, and on some really bad days, we want it to be the last time we ever feel that way. It’s up to us to overcome the pain.”
Despite being in the spotlight now, TommyHill never planned on becoming an artist.
“I did not like music until I was about 12 years old,” he says.
TommyHill embarked on his music career because he wanted to create songs with a message.
“There was just a lot of noise, I could not feel it. I did not set out to become an artist. Instead, it was music that chose me. I struggle with so much pain and a lot of different emotions. They all choose to express themselves through music. I believe every song has a meaning, and I am motivated by a deep need to have my voice heard, so I put my heart into every note of my music.”
Speaking on shooting the video for Abandoned, TommyHill and his team definitely had some major challenges to overcome;
“The biggest challenge for the video was pulling my body up from over the bridge. We did not use any props to shoot that scene. We didn’t have any machine, just 5 bodies. It felt like I was going to be hanging there forever. A real fear came over my body.”
While remaining an incredibly brilliant artist, TommyHill is likewise spreading his wings and testing the waters of entrepreneurship. He recently launched his debut collection, Ruby Roxanxx, which he describes as ‘the clothing line for the broken’
“ I have always felt like I want to wear clothes that mean something. For me, Ruby Roxanxx is very personal, way beyond putting some clothes together. It is an awareness on a higher level than most people who have not been broken. It represents the stitches and seams that hold souls and hearts together after they have fallen into pieces.”
While fans are steadily anticipating the official release of Abandoned on September 1, TommyHill has even more delights cooking.
“I am working on the music video for my first single First Ten. It is a really important project for me because it reveals my deepest broken pieces. I hope everyone will enjoy watching it, and beyond that learn from my pain.”
