The YOVA analogueduo of Jova Radevska and Mark Vernon have shared the video by filmmaker Enya Belak Gupta for a brand new track entitled ‘You’re The Mirror’
Their third release and the follow up to the recent ‘Rain’ single, the new song was recorded by the London based via Northern Macedonia YOVA line up of Jova Radevska (vocal & lyrics) and Mark Vernon (guitar, keyboards, lyrics) together with Rob Ellis (Hammond organ), Daniel O’Sullivan (bass guitar, mellotron, keyboards), David Rhodes (guitars) and Alex Thomas (drums).
Available digitally at all the usual major outlets, ‘You’re The Mirror’ weaves a tapestry of languid soul that evolves to a tautly drilled funk coda beneath mesmerising vocals and threaded guitars. A positive summer breeze for these uncertain times, the lyrics draw from recent individual and universal narratives experienced from lockdown and self – isolation. These are viewed through our collective ‘mirrors’ of self reflection; a sonic celebration of this reaffirmation of life. The song is the the first to be shared from a new 4 track single which also features a special remix by renowned Israeli producers Ranji & Ghost Rider (AKA Class A).
Inspired by their love of Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Motown, Talking Heads and Parliament, the YOVA pair of Mark Vernon and Jova Radevska began plotting and recording the initial music arrangements with a number of like – minded collaborators just over eighteen months ago. With strong links from his previous work with the likes of PJ Harvey, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci and John Cale, multi instrumentalist Mark Vernon was able to gradually bring in the other musicians to arrange, manipulate and shape shift the band’s mysterious and distinctive cinematic sound to which they used to great effect on the aforementioned ‘Rain’ (featuring a remix by Vince Clarke) and debut single ‘Moondog’.
